Lake Seminole History
Woodruff Lock and Dam (Seminole Lake) named after James Waldo Woodruff
James Waldo Woodruff was born in Columbus, Georgia in 1879. He was an engineer with a wide variety of business interests. he spent the greater part of his life working toward the goal of providing a navigable Apalachicola, Chattahoochee and Flint river system. In recognition of Mr. Woodruff's support for the project and distingished public service, this project was named for him in 1957.
